Two Wheel Gear Pannier Duffel Bag Review –
You have probably noticed if you have looked around this site that I am a big fan of Two Wheel Gear and their products, so when Reid and the team asked me to review their recently launched Pannier Duffel Bag I jumped at the chance!
Of course there are lots of duffel bags on amazon, but you will not find any like this one – a Duffel Bag (35L) that doubles up as a pannier and can be fitted to a bike?
After several searches online, this is truly a unique duffel bag for cycling and so I was intrigued to see how functional this would be.
So here is my tried and tested Two Wheel Gear Pannier Duffel Bag Review – Enjoy!

Out of the Box – First Impressions
The First thing that struck me about this bag on arrival was the material used as it was something unlike the other bags I have had from 2 Wheel Gear, this is a TPE Waterproof Backed Polyester that is smooth to the touch and looks very cool in black.
The Pannier Duffel Bag comes with a shoulder strap, fluorescent rain cover for additional protection from a heavy downpour and also a ‘Wet Sack’ which I think is a nice addition if you need to carry damp/ wet clothes in the bag.
Being a Duffel Bag the sole purpose is storage capacity so there are not any fancy storage pockets anywhere on the exterior of the bag, however there is a separate shoe/ helmet compartment at one end which is a useful feature.
In terms of Colors, the bag is only available in black and Two Wheel Gear have gone with red accents like on the zip toggles which I think look great and there are no big logos anywhere to be seen which I liked.
The overall look and feel of the bag is excellent, and they have done a great job of concealing the KLICKfix system used to attach the bag to the pannier rack which can be zipped away when not on the bike.
Inside the bag in the base, there is a zip that runs the full length of the bag which I used to store my laptop, but I guess this could be used for paperwork if needed.
Is it Waterproof?
The Pannier Duffel Bag is Waterproof and made out of TPE Waterproof Backed 600D Polyester although I haven’t tested yet in any torrential downpours, there is the Flouresent Rain cover that comes with the bag if needed for extra protection.
I have been using the bag for around a month now and the contents of the bag have remained dry without the rain cover on wet days.
Update: 22/07/2021 – I have since been caught out in a very heavy downpour with this bag and used the rain cover just for extra peace of mind. Everything was bone dry.
Setup and Ease of use
I love the simplicity of Two Wheel Gear products as they are so easy to use, especially now they have adopted the KLICKfix System to all of their products which is the best mechanism out there in my view and will fit almost any rack.
Concealed by a zipped flap, there is a rail with 2 hooks that simply hook on to any pannier rack with a red spring-loaded hook that you press to lock to the rack. It’s very easy to use and with a press of a button the bag just lifts straight off.
Storage and Compartments
You can fit a staggering amount of gear into this bag, the capacity is 35 litres so you can pack for a weeks trip with ease which is what I did recently and having the separate compartment was useful to carry an extra pair of shoes.
On the inside flap of the bag there are two netted pockets which I found useful for Chargers, phones etc, one of these pockets also stores the rain cover.
The Pannier Duffel bag a very versatile product that could also be used for commuting if needed depending on how much you need to take with you, but may be considered overkill for short trips to the office.
For commuting I tend to use the Pannier Backpack which I find more suitable due to being more compact and easier to carry around.
What’s It Like On The Bike?
I expected this bag to look very out of place when attached to the bike and thought it would be very bulky, however I was pleasantly surprised.
Even when fully packed the Pannier Duffel Bag felt secure on the bike and did not look out of place. When Riding I was a bit concerned about the weight being on one side, but overall did not notice this too much and I had no issues with it coming loose over the bumps etc
because of its design there is nothing stopping you from attaching another one on the other side if you were going on some long adventures which I would certainly consider when the time comes as they are in my view much more versatile than a traditional pannier with excellent storage.
My only criticism of the Two Wheel Gear Pannier Duffel Bag is they could have put some reflective strips on the sides of the bag for extra visibility when attached to the rack. It’s not a show stopper, but there is certainly space to have done this on the exterior and would have added safety benefits.
Pros & Cons -Two Wheel Gear Pannier Duffel Bag
- Excellent Storage Capacity
- Dual Purpose – Pannier/ Duffel Bag
- Easy to use
- Great quality materials and components
- No Reflective Strips
Update 22/07/2021: After reading my review Two Wheel Gear have confirmed they will be including reflective strips onto the sides of the bag which is great to hear.
Similar Product comparisons
I have scoured the internet and have not found any comparisons to the Pannier Duffel Bag which makes this a truly unique product and I am surprised others have not thought of this concept.
In my view this is where Two Wheel Gear shine as they are constantly innovating and bringing out clever products that are actually useful with the cyclist in mind.

Final Thoughts – Two Wheel Gear Pannier Duffel Bag
After using this bag over the past month on and off the bike ( over 150 miles cycled) it has been a joy.
Usually I would have resorted to ugly pannier bags for trips down to the south of England which although would do, having the ability to clip the Duffel Bag off the bike and attach the shoulder strap made things much easier at the other end.
If you are thinking of a ‘staycation’ this summer and fancy a bike adventure then the Two Wheel Gear Pannier Duffel Bag would be an excellent choice.
